Boat Tour Feriolo Without the Crowds – A Private Escape on Lake Maggiore

Anyone looking for a boat tour from Feriolo wants to experience Lake Maggiore – not the crush on scheduled boats. With the Striga Constanze you cast off privately from Feriolo, sail on a traditional gaff cutter through the Borromean Gulf and decide for yourselves where you stop, how long you stay and when you return. No rigid timetables, no strangers on board – just your experience on the lake. This offer is aimed at families, couples and small groups who want to experience Lake Maggiore away from the crowds. A private boat tour from Feriolo offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Lake Maggiore in a relaxed atmosphere.

Finally a Boat Tour from Feriolo Just for You – Instead of Crowded Scheduled Boats

Finally a Boat Tour from Feriolo Just for You – Instead of Crowded Scheduled Boats

Feriolo is a small district of Baveno on the western shore of Lake Maggiore which, with its mix of Alpine scenery and relaxed dolce vita, has attracted families, couples and nature lovers for years. As a rather small place, Feriolo retains a particularly quiet, personal atmosphere. But anyone who boards one of the regular excursion boats here knows the problem: full decks, rigid departure times, hectic changes at the Borromean Islands – and in the end more stress than relaxation.

We offer private, skippered boat tours on the Striga Constanze – and Feriolo is possible as a start or end point by arrangement. Imagine: casting off from the beach promenade in Feriolo in the morning, gliding towards the Borromean Islands, passing Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori, enjoying the view of Santa Caterina del Sasso – all at your own pace, without rush, without crowds.

We are already taking reservations for the 2027 season. The season starts on 1 March 2027.

Why a Private Boat Tour from Feriolo Is the Better Choice

Why a Private Boat Tour from Feriolo Is the Better Choice

Many guests know Feriolo as a starting point for excursions on the lake – whether to the islands, to the weekly market or for a panoramic evening cruise. Regular scheduled boats connect Baveno with surrounding towns and islands, and shipping has a long tradition on Lake Maggiore: the first steamboat service began here as early as 1826. But between overcrowded ferries and tightly scheduled excursion boats, what you actually came for is often lost – real peace on the water.

Our boat tours are different in character: slowing down instead of a programme, experience instead of transport, a traditional sailing boat instead of a standard motorboat.

Key advantages at a glance

  • Private & exclusive – The tour belongs to your group only, up to 12 people. No sharing with strangers, no crowds on board.
  • Flexible routes from/to Feriolo – Individually planned, for example Feriolo – Borromean Gulf – Santa Caterina del Sasso – back. Or towards Cannero Riviera to the castle ruins in the water.
  • A traditional gaff cutter instead of motorboats – Atmosphere, the feel of sailing, wooden details and the sound of wind and water instead of engine noise. A boat with real charm and history.
  • Fixed prices for the whole group – From €490 for 3 hours, up to 8 guests at a fixed price, up to 12 guests on request. More transparent than individual tickets on scheduled boats from Feriolo.
  • No rebooking worries in bad weather – Free rebooking if the weather forecast shows unpleasant conditions. The skipper makes the decision in favour of your safety.
  • More than just transport – Stories about the lake and its towns, short photo stops in front of villas and monasteries, on request a swim stop in a sheltered bay or an aperitivo break on board.
How Your Boat Tour from Feriolo Works

In 5 steps

How Your Boat Tour from Feriolo Works

From the first enquiry to returning to the lakeside promenade – here you'll find out step by step what your day on the lake looks like.

Step 1: Request your preferred date from Feriolo

Feriolo as a start or end point is possible by arrangement – alongside our other departure points Laveno-Mombello, Brebbia, Cannero or Cannobio. Simply message us on WhatsApp, via the contact form or by phone; on request we'll send you all the important information about the procedure and meeting point straight away. State your preferred date, time, number of people and any special wishes – for example "Sunset tour from Feriolo for 6 people on 15 July". We usually reply within 24 hours.

Step 2: Plan route and duration

Together we'll suggest a route that perfectly suits your departure from Feriolo:

  • ◆
3-hour highlight tour: From Feriolo through the Borromean Gulf, circling Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori with photo stops, panoramic views of Stresa and the mountains, return to Feriolo.
  • ◆
4-hour tour: In addition, a swim stop in a quiet bay and an extended aperitivo break on board with views of Baveno and Verbania.
  • ◆
7-hour day tour: A whole day on the lake – hidden bays, experiencing the Santa Caterina del Sasso monastery from the water, a restaurant visit ashore, return to Feriolo in the evening with approximate arrival between 7 and 8 pm, perhaps with a sunset over the Golfo Borromeo.

Special wishes such as a marriage proposal, a family pirate tour with a treasure hunt or a meditation on the lake can easily be included.

Step 3: Boarding in Feriolo & casting off

Your meeting point is on the beach promenade in Feriolo, near the central pontile on the shore. After a short safety briefing you go on board the Striga Constanze. On board you'll find a shaded deck, comfortable cushions, a toilet and a cool box for drinks. Your skipper is also your personal guide – he knows every corner of the lake, tells you about the history of the region and points out sights along the way.

Step 4: Enjoy, swim, marvel – your time on the lake

The boat tour from Feriolo offers spectacular views of the Alps and the beauty of Lake Maggiore:

  • ◆
The view from Feriolo towards Baveno, Stresa and the Borromean Islands – a real postcard motif in the Borromean Gulf, one of the most beautiful gulfs of Lake Maggiore
  • ◆
Photo stops in front of Santa Caterina del Sasso, the medieval monastery on the rock, or in front of the Castelli di Cannero – romantic castle ruins in the water
  • ◆
On request a swim stop in a sheltered bay – private boat tours often include special swim stops with clear water and a safe swimming ladder
  • ◆
An aperitivo break on board with prosecco, antipasti and non-alcoholic options (if booked)
  • ◆
Views of historic villas, gardens and the splendour of the shoreline

Step 5: Return to Feriolo & winding down

The return trip to Feriolo in the evening atmosphere is often the most beautiful part: the Borromean Gulf lies in warm light, the mountains are reflected in the water. The panoramic sunset cruise starts at 6:15 pm – an option that is particularly worthwhile for couples and romantics.

After the trip you can go on to eat right on the Feriolo lakeside promenade, take a walk through the village or walk back to your campsite or hotel. If you enjoyed the tour, we'd be delighted to receive a review – it helps other guests find us.

A Traditional Gaff Cutter Instead of a Standard Motorboat

A Traditional Gaff Cutter Instead of a Standard Motorboat

The Striga Constanze is a faithful replica of a Northern European working boat from the early 1900s. Built in 1979, 9.20 metres long, with 55.7 m² of sail area and a wooden gaff rig. Segeln magazine called her "a hidden gem on Lake Maggiore – a historic voyage that uniquely combines time travel and nature experience."

On board you'll experience wooden details, the setting of the sails, the quiet gliding across the lake. The interplay of wind, water and historic craftsmanship creates an experience no motorboat can offer. And if the wind drops, the quiet inboard diesel reliably gets you to your destination.

Individual occasions: from a market visit to a marriage proposal at Isola Bella

Feriolo is an ideal starting point for various occasions – less crowded than Stresa, quieter than Verbania Intra, with direct access to the lake:

  • ◆
Family day: A combination of island views, a swim stop and the legend of the hermit at Santa Caterina – perfect for families with children
  • ◆
Shopping & sightseeing: An individual variant to the weekly market – the market in Stresa is open every Friday, the weekly market in Verbania takes place every Saturday; their wide range attracts many visitors, and the private tour is the more relaxed alternative without the crush on the scheduled boat
  • ◆
Romance: A sunset trip starting and ending in Feriolo, a marriage proposal on board with a view of the Borromean Islands in the evening light and champagne
  • ◆
Special formats: Meditation, the exit game "The Treasure of the Mazzarditi", a small wedding celebration – all tours can also be booked from Feriolo

Real Experiences: How Guests Experience Feriolo & Lake Maggiore with Us

Testimonials say more than any description. Here are three typical stories from our guests:

"We usually always take the market boats from Feriolo – practical, but full and noisy. This time we booked the family pirate tour for our two children. The little ones were thrilled by the treasure hunt and the view of the ruins of the Cannero castles. And we parents finally had peace on the water, with a swim stop in a bay we had all to ourselves."

– Family with two children, campsite near Feriolo

"My boyfriend proposed to me on the sunset tour. We started in Feriolo, the skipper was in on it and stopped exactly at the moment the sun disappeared behind the mountains. The Borromean Islands in the evening light – I'll never forget that view."

– Couple from Munich, visit in September

"We were six friends and simply wanted to get out of everyday mode. Instead of the usual excursion boats we booked a 7-hour tour with digital detox. No phone, just the lake, the mountains and the soft creaking of the wooden deck. The feeling of casting off from Feriolo in the morning and coming back relaxed in the evening – that was a real break."

– Group of friends from Switzerland

Before: Full boats, rigid timetables, souvenirs instead of relaxation. After: A flexible start from Feriolo, our own cutter just for us, a real experience on the lake.

Discover Feriolo: More Than Just a Harbour

Discover Feriolo: More Than Just a Harbour

Before or after your boat tour, a visit to the village itself is worthwhile. Feriolo is known for its white granite deposits and for centuries was a large trading post for wood, charcoal and the famous pink granite of Baveno. The Oratory of Madonna della Scarpa was built in the 18th century, and the Church of San Carlo shows flood levels from 1868 and 1993 – striking evidence of the power of the lake.

The weekly market in Feriolo takes place on Thursdays from 8 am to 12 noon – ideal for a stroll before or after your trip on the water. In July, the Umberto Giordano Festival attracts visitors with music and culture. And if you'd like to get to know the Borromean Islands in more detail: the Borromean Islands consist of three main islands – Isola Bella is known for the Palazzo Borromeo, a historic palace, and baroque gardens, Isola Madre is home to an English-style botanical garden, and Isola dei Pescatori is an inhabited fishing village with traditional restaurants, ideal for lunch and souvenirs. The islands are open to visitors from April to October and can also be reached by boat from Stresa.

By the way: the car ferry between Intra and Laveno runs every 20 minutes – handy for anyone arriving by car who wants to explore different shores of the lake.
